Welcome to SRLfoamies – a new home for those who like to look at foamies, talk about foamies … and perhaps even BUILD foamies (it’s not as difficult as you might think! especially with the sort of help you will be able to find here).

In the last few years I’ve had a lot of fun flying and building light weight Depron R/C planes. Light weight gear and the LiPo battery has expanded the hobby in many ways. Now not only can you fly at the Club, and indoor flying nights ,but even in a quiet corner of the park(not bothering anyone), in the back yard, and even inside.

The reason for this site is to share what I have learnt and hopefully sell some cut and milled Depron kits to fellow Aussies, allowing me to develop the building and flying skills even more.

So come on in, have a look around, get to know the “locals”.

And let me know what you think! Would you like to see posts on a particular topic? Do you have some photos of your own you think might interest others?

  1. Its Tom Reinhold here. I was responsible for starting the indoor flying nights at Bulli PCYC and I am good friends with David McFarlane of Model sports.
Well Stephen, I have just picked up one of your kits, an Index 3S form David. Very impressive, nice milling work. We were discussing ways of achieving even greater lightness. I will get cracking on it and see how I go. I think I can save some weight on the work you have already done on the motor with a little more machining, as well as some servo stuff too. I wont put my money where my mouth is just yet though as you have already done some outstanding work. I am definitely looking forward to the finished product.
